Gisèle Eisenmann Montagné, born in 1959, is a self-taught painter, her artist name is GEM. She began painting during the 2020 pandemic with the use of soft pastels learning with tutorials from the internet. She then trained with artists such as Josy Grant from Grasse (06, France) about the basics of oil and acrylic painting, then with the artist Françoise Lebègue from Cannes (alias F Sim) for contemporary painting. Two events will determine her new career as a painter:

• The pandemic of 2020 which isolated her 2 years from her very first grandson, still a baby, who lives abroad. This pushes her to transcend absence through the creation based on photographs. Painting is the art of creating presence, materializing beings and things here and now.
• A first prize awarded 1 year later confirmed her legitimacy as an artist by recognising the quality and value of her work.

After an essentially figurative period, impregnated with nature and its environment (portraits, landscapes), she evolved towards a more personal expression (mixed techniques, collage, abstraction). Gem currently lives and works in the French Riviera, France. Since 2021, she has been exhibiting regularly in solo or group exhibitions.
